13 Health Tips...health tips for the new year to keep you in working condition

It is said that while you are looking for a job, your job IS looking for a job, that in itself it is a full time one. What with the pressures of the amount of time involved and the strain of having to deal with making applications, the experience of rejection and maybe going for interviews, there is also the stress of the psychological effects of unemployment and dealing with resulting issues such as debt.

It is only too easy to sit at your desk sending off job applications one after the other and not getting nearly enough exercise and putting on weight. Unfortunately, not only is this bad for you with the many known resulting health issues such as high blood pressure and arthritis, but it is well known that overweight people no matter how smart they may well look, have less chance of success at interviews …getting a job can have a lot to do with looking the part , and if you are going to look for a job, start a new job or indeed start a business , you need to be as fit as possible so here are some tips for the New Year , it’s not too late to make some resolutions :
Being overweight and unfit  puts every part of your  system at risk of illness . Stay off the chocolates and biscuits while at your desk, starch and sugary foods should be no more than 1/3, ideally less of your daily food intake.

1.      Drink more water, not only is it good for your skin but so many parts of your body work better, so drink 6-8 glasses of water daily.
2.      Got a headache? Try drinking a couple of glasses of water first before taking painkillers, you may well be dehydrated
3.      If you really just cannot drink plain water add a slice of lemon.
4.      “To keep the body in good health is a duty. Otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear.” ~ Buddha
5.       “The way you think, the way you behave, the way you eat, can influence your life by 30 to 50 years.” ~ Deepak Chopra
The food you eat affects your health, we are engines and how we work depends on what we put in.  Be sure that fresh fruit and vegetables are part of your diet. Fresh green vegetables are even good for your eyesight.  Good quality yogurt is good for your immune system and digestion. A healthy diet helps to protect your body from the stress that you are under
6.      Get up, get showered, get dressed ~ all this about how great it is to job search or work in your pajamas is not so great ...keep your mind in going to work mode, even looking for a job IS work!!!
7.      Step away from the computer. Go do some exercises, take a daily walk.
8.      Exercise your brain by doing new things, take up or keep up hobbies, have things to talk about besides work related issues, read, listen to music, watch television, talk to people, see family and friends …Don’t become an unemployed bore, it’s not good for you .
9.      If your joints are aching, get more exercise certainly and don’t sit at the computer all day, but also get your vitamin D levels checked, we live in a part of the world low in sunshine, especially in the winter and doctors are increasingly seeing worryingly low levels of vitamin D in patients. It’s now essential to supplement with vitamin D and Omega 3.
10.  As far as it is possible ~ If something is not working in your life, get rid of it. The results will be less stress and better health.
11.  If you are smoking, you may be stressed but make this the year that you do give up ...smoking causes cancer and high blood pressure and heart attacks it also causes cataracts, macular degeneration and optic nerve damage...but certainly in the UK, the government will still say you can’t have sickness benefits, they will put you on Job seekers allowance and make you look for a job and go to work programmes .  If you are starting up your own business, you need to be fit so stop smoking!!
12.  Your body hears everything your mind says.” ~ Naomi Judd...so stay positive
13.  Get enough sleep!! It is so easy to be burning the midnight oil on your computer in the early hours of the morning, keep a regular bedtime. Being unemployed, looking for a job, starting a business are all exhausting. “Rest when you're weary. Refresh and renew yourself, your body, your mind, your spirit. Then get back to work.” ~ Ralph Marston
