I have written previously on the importance of still
managing to have a life and stay in the loop and in contact with people, even
when you are unemployed and on a very limited income. It is hard, but try not
to become a job hunting bore. There is a difference between letting people know
that you are looking for a job, and looking desperate, which can end up with
you seeming unemployable.
It’s the weekend, take a break and do something interesting and
fun, which even in an indirect way can help you on your job search.
Something that can be great fun to do and helps you to
assess your direction and where you are heading is to make a bucket list, a
list of things that you want or would like to do, it does help to be realistic
because being able to tick things off gives a sense of achievement. Should you
find it difficult to be inspired and feel out of touch just google bucket list
ideas for lots of suggestions. Many of these will be free yet help you to have
interests and things to talk about and share with your networking contacts ,
and if you are reading this, then you are online and can network ,even talking
about such things as free online books and courses, gives you opportunities to communicate
with other people and things to do .
Having interests and keeping up with what is going on in the
world actually makes you a more attractive employee.
Go to things such as free art exhibitions, museums and
concerts. If the weather is good, go to the park...kick leaves and get out in
the fresh air.
Research free books online and free online television where
there are some excellent documentaries, TV series to catch up on and movies. Not
all online books require a kindle, and if a Kindle app is needed, there are the
excellent free ones for your computer, where the books can be downloaded or
read in the cloud.
Enjoy free online music via such services as YouTube and
Spotify
Make some pampering time, check out your toiletries and
soaps, creams and bubble bath and relax...It’s the weekend
